Toast Ka?

September 25th, 2006 by party-juice

Heavy rains started to pour this month. I was worried the weather would take so much effect on my night life. As it was, the months grew kind of boring. It was a good thing one of our buddies Dr. Dax came over from “be cool city” for a convention.

Suite_home_1
Every now an then, Dax has been attending certain events as such. And each time he was checked in some hotel in the middle of some cool places such as Makati, Otigas,Manila and the like. Every time he passed by we had a couple of drinks to go with our spare time.

It was like late August when he SMS’ed Jeff and I. He was checked in at a hotel in Manila. I was just lounging at the house when Jeff broke the news that Dax was in town.

Toast_ka_1
And so we met up at the hotel’s ground bar and got our feet working. The first stop was the nearby 24/7 store where we grabbed some grub and liquor. We happened to catch ourselves a bottle of Toska Vodka which we barely consumed since our buddy’s uncle had invited us over to the hotel’s casino to have some leisurely fun. Some way to spend the night eh? And so we left the bottle half consumed.

Casino_boys_1
By this time, the vodka started to kick in. As early as the hotels lift, I had some buzz going. We passed around careless jokes and jeers as we descended from the building to the car-park. The funny thing was that the casino we were headed for was just like only two or three blocks way. Who gave a damn anyways?

And so, the casino boys had entered. As we dandily entered the casino grounds, security had our camera phones taped that we had no way of catching some moments around the grounds. Anyways, we had a great time babe watching and stuff, looking around as if like we had a load of expendible dough  in our pockets.. It took us about an hour or two until Dax and his uncle had enough winnings to spend for the night. It was a good thing they did. Whew….

Kutings_1
Finally, as we exited the casino grounds for some night life around the area, we happened to stumble into some local bar just around the corner. We ordered a couple of beers and had a great time chatting with the babes from the bar. As we washed the vodka with beer we barely had the chance to show our signing talent, since there were a lot of guys trying to make a show.

Dax_1
We almost consumed half a dozen bottles of SMB lights that evening, it was a good thing that Dax had something going back in his suite that early morning that we had a reason to call it a night.

All in all, we all had a great time gambling and drinking with some babes that night.

Jam Beer Eh!

September 25th, 2006 by party-juice

A year had passed and Dodoy had his annual celebration coming. He SMS’ed me about his bash a week before and he was luck I had a slot for him given my hectic sleep and lounge schedule.

It was an afternoon of pouring rain, and it was like a Friday so everyone was all in a hurry to get home and to dine out. I had to chill out at the Galleria smoking at the lounge and watching some babes pass by. It was like the “Three Day Sale” at the mall that’s why. Everyone was like so eager to spend all of their money on the overpriced, good as spoiled, imperishable, old stock items of the mall’s boutiques. All this happening as I waited for Dodoy’s SMS.

I had informed Jeff, Sarge and some other guys about Dodoy’s invitation. Another night of free beer and grub…”Eat and Drink All You Can” style. Just like any celebration for that matter. An ultimate “Freeload”!

Unfortunately, most of the guys called in sick. Or better yet, they were all scared of getting themselves soaked in itchy rain as the rains grew itchy over the years, probably due to the pollution and everything. Or is it just me?

Anyways, I had the event and the celebrator to myself. I had the chance to tag along my trusty Cebu crafted steel string acoustic with me. Ready to jam the night through with my jam partner at Trade Center Building.  We were both "Alternative" in nature, if you know what I mean.

As I arrived, Dodoy’s cousin Caloy greeted me like a star. He was half drunk as soon as I planted my feet. “Tangina Idol!” in an exhasperated tone addressed me. “Ehto and hinahanap ko matagal na! Bat ngayon ka lang dumating?” he exclained with a smile. "Well uhhh…” and smiled back. Dodoy then greeted me with almost the same line and offered me a seat and his feast.

Almost everyone was drunk since Dodoy had almost an unlimited supply of light beer readied that night as we sang old tunes back in our college days. Singing songs from Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Metallica, Incubus, 311, Guns and Roses, and the like. Some mid 90’s kind of tunes.

All in all, everyone had a great time. I wish I had the rest of the crew with me. Anyways until the next time around.

Fly me to the Moon!!

July 8th, 2006 by party-juice

Oh Yes!…This is one hell of a trip I would never miss. I have found a new way of travelling. Thanks to my trusty PC gadget, I could fly to any point in the world! I’ve seen places I wouldn’t imagine to catch a glimpse of. Thanks to technology and research! This is one superb adventure I can’t help but share with you. An exhilirating experience which I have been enjoying for some time now.

Bliss_bwI was just looking for some local topographical map the other month, in seach of alternate routes around the city. Well as we all know, traffic is a major problem in almost every major city. Anyway, I went "googling" around for the most detailed map on earth I could find, and to my suprise there was indeed one.
Looking into it was so life like, I thought I was just flying over places I have been treading on for the past 20 years or so. From over our old housing project, my high school alma mater,  the  metropolis,  friend’s houses, to different populated cites in the Philippines and the rest of the World. Not to mention, some major land marks and tourist spots! An almost detailed birds-eye view every continent in the entire planet; at least most of them as of today.

I have seen places like Manhattan New York, China, Sydney Australia, France and other tourist areas around the world. Here are some grabbed images from my desktop at home.

This is one way to live those long time dreams of travelling around the world. I think this site has a very cool idea of delivering significant information and online entertainment all at the same time in one "free" application. This is one hobby I probably wouldn’t grow tired of. It sort of makes me feel like I really am Superman! I can only imagine how it would look a few more years from now. No doubt, this is one practical way to travel around the world.

Unfortunately, I
could’nt access it from my office. Thanks to the network admins for their keen
filtering and patching of some ports. Here is the link to the wonderful experience of travelling via Google Earth:  http://earth.google.com/ Enjoy!

Hmmm…I wonder if they already have a map to the moon?

Rakraccoon!!!

July 8th, 2006 by party-juice

Rakrakan_chronicles_bwA lot of bands benefited greatly from my friend Gerry’s genius plans, and I’m
proud of being a witness and part of it some way or another. Way back in the mid ’90s, a number
of great bands went under Red house’s wing. To name a few, the
"Souldredggers" composed of Delta Slim -lead vocalist and guitars,
Gerry on bass, Fermin on the skins, and yours trully…on rhythm
guitars, and "Hubris" with Gerry on -bass/vocals, Judge
-vocalist/guitars, Allan on lead/rhythm guitars, Pons
-drums/percussion. These were Red House Production’s house bands.

As you can see, Rakrakan has been around bringing music to thousands of filipinos in and out of the metropolis. Sporting bands had the chance to bathe in some limelight in one way or another. As artists, hobbyists, audiophiles, and the like.. people just enjoy the camaraderie and melodically colorful environment music brings about. Events that took place and have instilled memorable events in each audience and participant’s mind, happy or sad, good or bad, true or not. All these things are in some way worth reminsceing.

As I have learned recently, Gerry has revived the much awaited online local rock and roll music magazine. It has been shelved for a while, since he  had been  out of the country for these past few years.

Rakrakan_bwIt’s back! and once again online…Here is a glimpse of the anniversary issue Gerry published way back in ‘96. Whew!…brings back memories. Anyways, a lot of band write-ups and articles were quite interesting, though I could hardly remember articles since it has been quite a while. As I remember, one could catch a glimpse of the who, what, where, when of each band, their upcoming gigs and albums. I for one, am looking forward to its official re-launching.

Already curious about Rakrakan’s upcoming articles and artists? I guess we will have to check it out and see for ourselves.

More power to the Master RockMan Gerry and to his better half May!! RACCOON!!!

Super Stud

June 30th, 2006 by party-juice

This is one costume I really wanted to have  ever since I was a kid.  I happened to borrow one from a friend of mine who just happened to drop by. Here is a sample of poses I did when I had the chance to try it on for size. It look as if I’ll be needing some more exercise to do… ang hirap huminga sa costume na ito!
This was one of my visioned stage costumes way back in college.

Super_bino_labo_ok_bwI should wear this on stage someday, and I guess it wouldn’t be much of a bother? Though ever since I was a teener, I had this obsession for black colored
clothes. It kind of put a touch of elegance into the outfit, whatever it may be. I even
dreamt of wearing a Bat Man costume on stage once, it would’ve been equally cool.
Although, it wouldn’t go along with the bands name. If you happen to
see one, kindly grab me one. I’d be glad to pay you in kind (of course).

Me_pepeSpeaking of bands, our college band was named Super Stud which actually stood for Super "Student". We used to play Pinoy Rock Music inspired mostly from the Juan de la Cruz band. One of our favorite songs, "Teachers Enemy No.1" composed by non other than Mr. Rock & Roll sa Ulan himself Joey Pepe Smith, was a hit amongst our notorious peers those days. Well so much for fooling around…

By the way, you should check out the rest of the gang, they’re a bunch of Super Friends!!!…and to all…RACCOON!!!

Alone… Dawn… Dry…

June 18th, 2006 by party-juice

Hehehe, a new discovery. The last time I had a flask of this was when I accidentally tipped over half a dozen teepees and kiosks in some college fair. I realy never thought this might have been the culprit behind my 5 hour smootch marathon that evening. It was a good thing I came home safe and sound. Thanks to Cowpunk and company. Anyway…

London_dryI rarely see the likes of this liquor in the racks any 24/7 stores around our area, and I wondered why. Lateley, it seems to be among the lineups of liquors commonly seen in these stores. I grabbed one to remind me what kind of kick I’d really expect from it. It says in the label "90 proof", which means it has well around 45% of alcohol and was 15% more kick than the usual Gin I’ve tasted. The bottle closeley resembled those of Gilbey’s Dry, though I never really had the taste for Gilbey’s. Lateley the weather has been erratically humid and the week has been dry. It was just one of those lazy days when you’d wonder and say to youself, "what next?" as if there were nothing else to do. And so I decided to purchase one of these babies.

Early that afternoon, James and I decided to try out the liquor and happened consume what we thought was just right, and that was just half of the story and of the bottle. Having consumed only half the liter, I shelved it for a rainy day. And in less than 2 days it poured literally and figuratively. Nowhere to go, nothing to do and with some cash to burn. Oh  well, I happened to bump into our executive maintenance officer cum guard around the  apartment grounds whilst wandering around waiting for something to happen that evening. I was like a trapped mouse, it was a Friday night and everyone was like out partying (as I thought). And so, since "Manong" was available for a shot and chat, I decided to pitch in the half  empty bottle. As usual, that evening was capped with spirit and laughter.

For the rainy days!!! RACCOON!!!

The Turd and the Fief at the Port

June 8th, 2006 by party-juice

I was hanging out in some local KTV bar when James called me over for a drink at some bar in Fort Bonifacio in Guadalupe. Luckily I had a bottle of GSM whisky along with me which Peter gave in exchange for some favors. St_george_2A few swigs of it was enough for me to last the whole night. One wouldn’t notice it’s scent after taking a shot, it’s tase was quite mild, though it had a kick to it, somewhat similar to the Jacks I had late last and early this  year.

Anyway, as usual, I swigged shots at the parking lot where I had the whiskey stashed inside the car, at the same time washed each shot with some beer the place had. I was on my third botlle of beer and already had like eight shots of whiskey when James SMS’ed me about his plans of abusing my liver and kidneys in exchange for the escort service he had running late that evening.

A friend of ours, Precious asked us out. I guess she was kind of sick and tired of the same old beautiful faces and her glamorous friends. She was a cool girl though. I was suprised that she’d even remember someone like me, knowing her crowd and everything. Anyways, she had a broken hearted lady friend (I didn’t quite catch her name) who needed some air.
As I waited, I finished off my last beer promo bottle and last swig of whisky and drove off. We met at a nearby gasoline station, left my car and hitched a ride with James and company.

I rarely cross the boundary between Metro Manila and Makati City, well this was the first time this year.

Luckily I had worn a decent set of clothes, enough to get me in those much talked about classy bars we had just entered.

Dance_indian_bwWe had our earwax atomized as we listened to some DJ mixes in some Indian motif bar. Groups of ex-pat kids of different races, Fil-Am boys & gals, Hip-hop wannabes, yuppies, rich kids and a few prime time pop celebs hipped and hopped around the venue as we hung around and sipped on a couple of free paid local light beer. After downing a few bottles we bounced and headed for the next bar.

Dance_fort_bwIt was fun watching the rigor mortis at the next bar. It was there where Precious cordially introduced us to some people such as, not to mention, the local sex godesses Gwen. Gwen_garciWho by the way danced sexily that night. What a sight! We also had a few beers here and there as Precious danced around with her beautiful lady friends. We really enjoyed watching them grind.

I was like so unused to the type of crowd that was amidst us that I really had to go to the comfort room every now and then to aid my semi-claustro-agoraphobic attacks. Well as you know I’m not really into disco, trance music lounges. Anyway, the drinks and chicks rocked!

Fort_banyoTo Precious and James for their undying suprise parties and special thanks to Peter for the  liquor which fueled the party…RACCOON!!!

Daily Dozed 06-06-06

June 6th, 2006 by party-juice

Ginebra_premium_ginIt was the sixth day of the sixth month of year  2006. We definitely had to drink that day some way or another. James had SMS’ed that he would be coming over to share a couple of shots with Wowie and I. That afternoon I had prepared a 750mL GSM Premium in case we had nothing else to drink that humid afternoon.

The night before as I was reading some online forum. I had read about a online KTV website. Out of curiosity, I signed up for a new account and tinkered around with the sites features. The accompanying music sounded better than those MIDI-type (elevator music) sound. Some of them even had real instruments used on them and the songlist was up to date. The nice part about it is that you can have your own recording and you can share it for others to listen and later comment on your performance. I thought it would be  a good addition to our drinking session since James was sort of into videoke stuff and to save us from the routinelike drinking sessions.

KsoloTrue enough, earlier that afternoon, James enjoyed singing along some of his favorite tunes never been heared on the current song lists in other local KTV machines, an hour before his cousin arrived.

Wow_and_jepWowie arrived early afternoon about 3 p.m., so we had the whole afternoon and evening to hang around. We started on the premium gin since it was the first time that Wowie would taste the new liquor. We had some citrus soda to go along with it, though the gin already had a tinge of lime flavoring already mixed along with it. There were 3 of us so it took no time consuming the 750mL bottle so we opted to purchase another bottle. James decided to get a GSM blue gin instead, to catch up on our premium buzz.

Ginebra_blue_ginUnlike its sister liquor, the blue gin tasted a bit more like denatured alcohol or at least smelled like it. The taste behaved like those vodkas which scent and taste faded as soon as you swigged a shot.  Suprisingly, it tasted a bit stronger than the premium gin which was 70 proof, despite being a 65 proof liquor, probably the Juniper berries added flavor to the premium blend.

Jep_and_pogiAgain, since there were 3 of us, like thirsty elephants we consumed the bottle in a blink of an eye. Our conversations lasted a while though. We were like plannig some stuff, just like we used to do in some local bar near the university area. Thinking about anything and discussing everything without doing something except chatting sweet nothings.

LashingSince I was like drinking on an empty belly, before I new it, I was like sleeping on our conversation, dead as an opossum. I could barely remember anything about what we had laughed about then, and most likely it was all about me. Upon realizing my condition, I excused myself and decided to sleep it off on the sala sofa.

Waking about 2 hours later, Wowie decided to retire for the day and so did James. I was too drunk to escort them to the parking lot although I managed to bid them farewell. I could hardly remember the last time I got that drunk. It was an awakening experience, for me at least. I kind of missed being that care-free and careless for such a long time now. Heheheh.

To my college drinking buddies Wowie and James…RACCOON!!!

Antonov_vodkaThis bottle hit me quite well, an 80 proof locally produced Vodka. It was a strong tasting liquor though its scent faded just like any vodka did. Days had passed since my last drinking spree. Our household help had their summer vacations all at the same time, so I was like a proxy of some sort.

And so, after a long day of routine chores like feeding the household pets, cleaning their cages, picking up droppings and wiping pee, I ran through the refrigerator for some evening snacks and headed straight home.

711I stopped by the nearby 711 for a cup of coffee and blankly sat there for a while. It had been a while since my last party. Anyways it seemed like a viod week this time. The rain had been pouring heavy lateley, makes  the day even more lazy. Shadows

The humid and stale air surrounded me as I dragged my feet on the wet asphalt as I headed to my place.

It was the last week of May, everyones getting ready for the opening schoolyear. People passing here and there. Chatters filled the staircase as I walked up to my suite. Some of my neighbors were planning to have a nightcap while playing some card game called "tong its".

Dougs_jl_and_pamDouglas a.k.a. "Dougs" a neighbor of mine and JL their bedspacer asked me over to share a few shots as we played. Since I had nothing else to do besides playing cards and hanging around I decided to pitch in my stock of vodka which I garnered from an old favor. To my suprise, this bottle gave me quite a kick, it well added a little extra strong buzz to our boring evening.

Long before we finished the bottle of vodka, I had planned to wash it off with some light beer at the nearby KTV I frequently visit. To my suprise, they were already closed for the evening. "This isn’t really my day" I said to myself. I really had expected so much for that evening. Anyway, I just slept it off this time.

Naka_dapaAnyways everyday isn’t my birthday….so what the heck?! RACCOON!!!
